The Concrete Jungle Gym creates a space for healthy activity outdoors by activating an underused space in cities. It turns an empty parking lot into pavilions for a range of activities, from workouts to yoga to tai chi.
Each pavilion in the gym uses a warm or cool color scheme to create a more energizing or zen environment suitable for different activities.
Five pavilions of varying sizes are set up to allow for a variety of solo and group activities, from yoga and meditation to aerobics classes and more solitary rest areas.
The shapes of the pavilions can be configured to fit the site.
The Gym is constructed by attaching wires to lamp posts, then draping a fabric canopy over the wires. The canopy is anchored to the ground by weights.
